Employer Sponsored Visas

Employer sponsored visas are designed to respond to the needs of Australia's employers by enabling them to recruit and nominate skilled people to fill positions that they have not been able to fill from the local labour market or through their own staff training.

There are several visa options that allow businesses to sponsor overseas workers to work in Australia. They are:

Temporary Business Sponsorship (subclass 457)

This visa lets a skilled worker travel to Australia to work in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor for up to four years.

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS – subclass 186)

This visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers who have been nominated by an approved Australian employer

Regional Sponsored Skilled Migration Scheme (RSMS – subclass 187)

This visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers who have been nominated by an approved Australian employer for a job in regional Australia.

Temporary Work (Short Stay) Visas (subclass 400)

This visa is an offshore, short-term visa available to persons who are travelling to Australia to engage in work or an activity or to participate in an event.
